About The Role

As a Mechatronics Engineer at CDP, you will play a key role in developing innovative products that make a real-world impact. You will work across a wide range of sectors, with a strong focus on medical devices and robotics, contributing to the design and development of complex electromechanical systems from concept through to manufacture.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, combining mechanical, electronics, and software engineering to deliver robust, scalable solutions for our clients.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team developing products for external clients
  • Contribute across the full product development lifecycle – concept generation, system architecture, detailed design, prototyping, and transfer to manufacture
  • Design and develop integrated electromechanical systems, including sensors, actuators, embedded control systems, and mechanisms
  • Support system integration, debugging, and testing of prototypes in laboratory environments
  • Collaborate closely with electronics, software, and mechanical engineers to deliver cohesive system solutions
  • Manage prototype builds internally and with external suppliers
  • Communicate progress and technical concepts clearly through presentations, reports, and client interactions
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to technical discussions with stakeholders of varying seniority
  • Support project planning, risk identification, and problem solving on fast-paced development programs

About You

Skills and Attributes:
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Strong technical capability across a mix of:
    • Electromechanical system design
    • Embedded systems and control
    • Sensors and actuators
    • Mechanism design and integration
    • Experience with tools such as MATLAB / Simulink
    • Experience working with precision sensors (pressure, flow, optical, etc.)
  • Proven ability to design systems from first principles
  • Experience with system integration and debugging of complex hardware systems
  • Experience debugging complex systems using a structured, methodical approach
  • Good understanding of industry-standard communication protocols (e.g. SPI, I2C, UART, CAN)
  • Strong hands-on engineering skills, including wiring, soldering, and rapid prototyping
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, multidisciplinary project teams
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to take ownership of technical workstreams and deliver high-quality outputs
Experience and Education:
  • Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
  • 3–7 years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience in medical devices, robotics, or similarly regulated/complex product environments preferred
  • Experience designing and building custom electronics and electromechanical systems from scratch
  • Experience with electrical schematic capture and PCB design
  • Experience working across hardware and embedded systems development
  • Exposure to full product development lifecycle, including prototyping and manufacturing transfer
  • Interest in client-facing work, including supporting technical discussions and project delivery
