About The Role
Cambridge Design Partnership are looking for Specialist Mechanical Engineers with significant expertise and experience in developing medical devices to join our network of approved contractors for future project opportunities.
 
You will use your in-depth specialist technical knowledge to help drive important development projects toward success. You will work closely with some of the world’s leading medical device companies and start-ups to develop cutting-edge and innovative products from early-stage concepts to product launch.  
About You
You will ideally have:
  • Expertise in designing any of the following:
  • Complex capital equipment such as robotic-assisted surgical devices, blood-filtration machines or critical care equipment, including the specific complexities of these devices such as working with large assemblies; structural analysis and optimisation; drive chain, mechanism, and electromechanical interface design.
  • Patient contact and implantable devices such as cannulas and stents; wound, ostomy and continence products; advanced manual or robotic surgery instrumentation.
  • A proven track record in designing products which meet the specific requirements of these devices, such as high reliability, safety and efficacy; the needs of physicians; and the critical and sometimes intimate interfaces with patients.
  • A highly creative and technical mindset in many areas: concept generation, engineering and statistical analysis, design of experiments, and design for high and low volume manufacturing.
  • Experience in design verification and commercialisation of these types of products.
  • A familiarity with the various needs from the medical device regulatory requirements such as IEC 60601 ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820 and ISO 14971; design control; compilation of Design History File; verification and validation.
