Gmax Equine (a spin out company of Cambridge Design Partnership) is the world leader in horse race tracking, providing live data feeds for TV broadcast, gaming and sports research. Gmax designs, manufactures, installs and operates its growing estate of bespoke GPS based tracking systems at over 80 race courses across 4 continents, and to date has tracked over 80,000 races.

The company was formed in 2012 and has grown organically to today’s team of over 20 staff, tracking races across the world from offices in Cambridge, UK and Toronto in Canada. Due to increasing demand and several new business opportunities they are seeking a hands-on Technical and Installations Manager to take charge of their technical installation, operation and customer support activities.
The role is responsible for delivering live race data to Gmax customers. This includes new installations at race courses, operations monitoring and customer support. Installation requires liaison and planning with customers, travel to site for surveys, coordination with subcontractors, site supervision with some hands-on work, H&S management and ensuring compliance with local legislation. Operations monitoring includes planning, training, managing the monitoring team as they ensure live race data feeds are delivered successfully, keeping detailed records, monitoring quality, problem solving and liaising with customers.
The Technical and Installations Manager role requires:
- Taking responsibility for the success of an important part of the Gmax’s international business.
- Knowledge and understanding of IT systems and Windows networking and integration.
- Ability to manage teams and plan to increase performance, efficiency and quality.
- Excellent technical problem solving and customer liaison skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
- Willingness to get the job done, even if this means working across different time zones and travelling locally and internationally.
- Experience of systems installation projects performed safely to a high standard.
- Driving licence and passport that allows travel to Europe, US, South America and Asia.
