About The Role

At CDP, DevOps is about building partnerships between software engineers and the rest of the world.  We are looking for a DevOps engineer to join our existing DevOps team in supporting our software engineering staff as they develop both digital and physical products for our clients.

Your role will involve working on client projects directly and developing the core infrastructure and services used by all our developers, both internally and with clients.

Your key contributions to our client projects will include:

  • Working alongside our solution architects with a relentless focus on design-for-operations
  • Partnering with client DevOps and service operations teams to support product launches and handover to the customer
  • Customising CDPs standard development and build environments for the unique needs of our customers

Internally, CDP maintains and continually improves a development and build environment used by all our software engineering team members as part of our commitment to following industry best practice.  You’ll take responsibility for ensuring that these environments are fit-for-purpose and ready-for-use at all times and you’ll be a core part of the team making that happen.

About You
  • You’ll be well organised to ensure that you can handle multiple ongoing activities and manage critical infrastructure on behalf of CDP
  • Strong communication skills are absolutely essential to a successful applicant
  • You’ll be comfortable working in an Agile environment
  • Strong experience of managing servers and Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems
  • Deep understanding of
    • Scripting languages
    • Cloud-hosted services
    • Infrastructure-as-code
    • The software development lifecycle
    • Build and release pipelines
    • What it takes to deliver high-quality solutions to internal and external customers
  • You’ll be used to integrating tools to add value quickly and will be flexible to the scripting languages and tools you use
  • We expect you to have a service-driven philosophy to your work with a very strong focus on scale through automation and test
  • You will likely have a degree in a suitable subject with a strong track record of delivering DevOps capability throughout your career
