About The Role
Could you lead our human factors (HF) capability? We’re looking for a new Head of Human Factors to provide strategic guidance to our clients and internal HF team on applying HF engineering for regulated medical, diagnostic, and drug delivery devices. Your leadership will extend to scoping and implementing HF testing (formative and summative) and developing use-related risk assessments and HF submission documentation.

As our new Head of Human Factors, you’ll define our HF services in response to market needs. You’ll build a world-class team to deliver those services and – as part of a senior cross-disciplinary team – contribute to the development and application of our user-centred design philosophy, all in a dynamic and innovative environment.

In this externally facing role, you’ll be comfortable interacting with clients in a business development context, providing HF recommendations and working collaboratively with client teams such as clinical, regulatory, risk, and product development, as well as providing thought leadership at relevant industry events.
About You
  • Experience in scoping and managing regulated HF programmes for medical and pharmaceutical companies and being responsible for project quality, budget, and planning.
  • Extensive experience designing, moderating, and reporting late formative and summative/validation usability studies.
  • In-depth knowledge of HF regulatory requirements for medical, diagnostic, and drug delivery devices.
  • Demonstrable experience in translating HF activities into usability engineering documentation in line with FDA and EU requirements.
  • Extensive experience collaborating with individuals from clinical, regulatory affairs, risk, and product development in pharmaceutical companies to deliver HF programmes.
  • A degree in Product Design, Engineering, Human Factors, Psychology, or Social Sciences -related field.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, which you’ll apply to build relationships with clients and our cross-disciplinary development teams, mentor junior staff, and provide thought leadership at global industry events.
  • Drive to rapidly build on existing skills, develop new ones, and apply your experience to a wide range of projects.
    (Advantage) Experience of the following: risk management, application of human factors to SaMD, labelling, and training design.
  • (Subject to COVID-19 restrictions) A willingness to travel to undertake research and attend global conferences for up to a week at a time.
