About The Role

The industrial sector focuses on business to business industries, from industrial processes though to the energy and utility markets where the sector is experiencing rapid change, with market requirements evolving and established business models being disrupted. We work with the world’s leading companies to identify strategic innovation opportunities and develop winning products. Product and service developments often start with the earliest stakeholder research and business strategy and continue through detailed product development, to market launch. 

To capitalise on our success and the growing market opportunity, we seek an Industrial Technologies Business Development Consultant to play a key role in strategically and operationally leading the development of new business within this sector. As an experienced business developer this is an opportunity for you to build on our existing successes, and to create new relationships that enable our clients to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with our other business development and project teams to continue to build this business pipeline. As part of your role you will:
  • Be responsible for selling innovation and development projects of annual value in the £3m+ range.
  • Identify and approach prospects, set up meetings to grow new and existing relationships and projects, qualify new opportunities from your existing network and build new client relationships (e.g. conferences, networking etc.)
  • Contribute to the strategic development of marketing and sales collateral, thought leadership, blogs and white papers.
  • Contribute to project delivery where your commercial skills and experience will add value, for example in workshops, brainstorms and Front End of Innovation activities.
  • Maintain responsibility for the client relationships and commercial success of your projects.
  • As an experienced Senior Consultant, you will work closely with the board, and other sector and discipline leaders on targeted business development activity, to achieve challenging team targets
 

 
About You
  • A broad and established network of VP/Director-level contacts in large or multinational corporations. 
  • An experienced new product development or business leader, with a track record of initiating innovation or development projects of annual value in the £3m+ range.
  • 1st or 2:1 degree in design, engineering or science.
  • Experienced commercial operator and thinker with deep market knowledge and trend insights.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience within the sector and good awareness of the opportunities provided by enablers such as sensing, IoT, data, connectivity, automation, electrification, and de-carbonification.
  • A track record of initiating early leads, with the motivation to open doors and generate new business opportunities.
  • Prior experience in technical project leadership.
  • A confident communicator with excellent presentation abilities you will be comfortable integrating at all levels with marketing, design, science and engineering teams to ensure our clients benefit from an industry-leading commercial technology innovation and new product development service.
  • Persuasive negotiation skills.
  • A self-starter with strong networking skills.
  • A positive and flexible temperament: happy to work both as part of a team and independently.
